Whiplash
Whiplash must be diagnosed by a physician before you can be treated by a masage therapist! You must also wait 48-72 hours before receiving a massage.
This injury is caused by the neck being forced backwards followed by rapid recoil forward bending of the neck, as can occur in car accidents. Resulting in pain an stiffness in the neck and upper shoulders. Pain can radiate upwards to the head and down into the arms. Nerve pain can be felt as pins and needles in the outer side of the hand. Headache is common and may last many months. Other symptoms may include vertigo, visual problems, depression and spine problems (disc rupture).
Massage promotes the healing process, relieves muscle tension in order to alleviate the symptoms of the headache, muscle strain and nerve pain.
Damage that occurs during whiplash is different with each instance so the length of treament varies from each case.
